Dear Valued Distributors, Customers & Business Partners,
As IDI has now surpassed its 40th year in business, we can reflect upon all the ups and downs of doing business in this competitive world. The early years were exciting, with new customers and new challenges that most contract machine shops would not touch. Everyone was living paycheck-to-paycheck, yet all wanted to come to work every day.
Along came 1981, and Tom Hotchkiss – founder, chief and our sole engineer at the time – developed our first air-driven pump. He named it the ELF, an acronym for Efficient Little Fellow.
The company transitioned from a custom hydraulic design and manufacturing firm to a product-based company selling air-driven hydraulic pumps, the product line grew to include the Pixie pump (ELF's little brother) and the H pump. The challenges grew as new products were developed and there were many lean times from the mid '80s to the mid '90s.
After the difficult times, IDI continued to develop new products for boosting gas and air pressure, as well as complementary products such as our line of zero-leak solenoid directional valves. As our customer base increased with the help of our distributors, IDI began to prosper.
In the last ten years, IDI has experienced continuous and steady growth. Even during the recent economic downturn, IDI has remained profitable and sales continue to increase.
With many thanks to all our distributors, suppliers, customers and, most importantly, our dedicated work staff, we hope to continue this positive trend for many years to come.
Respectfully,
Vice President of Sales and Marketing
